MEET THE MAN WHO HAS BEEN COLLECTING WEATHER DATA IN HIS BACKYARD FOR MORE THAN 50 YEARS.

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, a man has dedicated more than 50 years of his life doing what he loves: collecting weather data for the National Weather Service. Since childhood, Julian Kesterson has cherished observing bright snowfalls and thunderstorms. His backyard lies in a valley along a railroad and river, it contains climate instruments that are checked daily, with precision. Over the years the data Kesterson collected has revealed interesting trends that spark more curiosity into what the future of Virginia's climate brings.
